🎯CORE THESIS

We have a fast, automatic way of thinking that tells good stories, and a slow, effortful one that could check them and mostly does not. The fast one substitutes an easy question for a hard one, ignores how often things happen in general, and is confident in proportion to how coherent the story feels and not to how much evidence there is. Knowing this does not switch it off. It only tells you where to put the checklist.
