The Canopy

A graph that shows what is alive.

The Canopy draws your whole vault in 3D. Each view arranges the same notes to answer one question, then explains itself: a legend for every colour and shape, findings in plain sentences, and a replay of how the vault grew, day by day. Below, three of the views run on the example vault's real notes and links.

Global views

The whole vault, five ways.

Pictures to look at more than tools to work in. They make the shape of a life visible: which areas carry the most, what you read, how your days add up.

  • ArborYour tree: areas as boughs, notes as leaves, sources as roots.
  • GroveYour forest: a plant per topic, roots where topics link, the journal as a stream.
  • CosmosYour notes as galaxies, your days as a spiral.
  • OrbYour folders as sectors of a sphere, your links as threads.
  • SignatureYour card: your glyph, your tree, four numbers. Made to share.

How to read the Arbor

Boughs are your life areas; a bough is as long and as thick as the notes it carries. Notes without an area join the bough most of their links belong to. Branches follow your own structure: a goal carries its projects, a project its tasks.

The string of lights in the trunk is your values, beliefs and archetypes, the oldest at the foot. Roots are what you take in: a light for every source and a smaller one for every reading note, older material deeper. The rings on the ground are your journal, one light per day. Permanent notes and completed goals blossom, finished projects bear fruit, and archived notes lie fallen under the limb they came from.

Insights

Questions about your work.

Each insight view comes with numbers and a short list of findings: what is late, which habits go together, where reading stops turning into notes, who you have not spoken to in a while.

  • PlanGoals, projects, tasks: what is late, quiet or unfocused.
  • HabitsThe year of ticks: streaks, rhythm, what goes with what.
  • Knowledge flowWhat you read, what you noted, what you kept.
  • StructureBridges, orphans, stale notes, links worth making.
  • BalanceLife areas: how you rate them, the attention they get.
  • DaysYour journal year as a river: rating, energy, sleep.
  • PeopleYour people by real contact: who is near, who drifts.
