One gate, five ways to close it.
Every AI read passes through one exclusion rule set: sage: false on a note, ignored tags, ignored paths, a .sageignore file, or Ghost Mode, an allowlist. There is no Sylvics server in any setup.
Sage off: nothing sent. Local model: nothing leaves your computer. Your API key: each question goes straight to your provider with about ten notes as context.
Honest limits
What I have not solved yet.
- A note you refer to in a question is sent whole, and the conversation so far is resent with each turn.
- Only the first 1,000 characters of a note are indexed, so long notes are found by their beginning.
- API keys and chat history are stored as plain text in the vault's plugin folder. Remove that file before sharing a copy.
- Most of a note's bytes are layout properties. Your words are plain Markdown; the dashboards need the plugin.
- Turning Sage on the first time downloads a model of about 118 MB and indexes the whole vault on one thread.
- This is a beta, tested mostly on macOS. Windows and Linux work but are still experimental.
