The last sentence of book 4, section 3, Long's punctuation included: a colon in the middle, like a balance.

Copied out eleven days after the launch slipped. The first half is the part I cannot steer: load tests, other people's quarters, the weather. The second half is the part I can: what I decide the slip means. I wrote more about that split in 🕯️ On wanting to control a launch.

Opinion here is closer to judgment than to a view shared at dinner.

• Transformation: the launch date, the load test, the reorganisation that I did not know was coming.
• Opinion: whether a slipped date is a failure or a piece of information. I chose the second, about a week late.
