Workshop slide master
๐ ๏ธ Workshop slide master
๐ก Use Case
- Nine layouts and one rule: one idea per slide. Made in the last hour of Thursday 20 March, the day auto-triage came back, for ๐ Pricing workshop for Brightwater Studio.
- The nine: title, one sentence, one number, one chart, one question for the room, exercise instructions, two options side by side, a quotation from the room, and a blank.
- Used on 11 April for ๐ค Brightwater Studio - pricing workshop and again on 21 November for the metrics workshop, with the content changed and not one layout added.
- The blank is the one I use most. It means look at each other now.
โ๏ธ Pros & Cons
Pros
- Nine is few enough that preparing is writing, not arranging. Five evenings went on what to say.
- One question for the room has a different background, so people know before reading it that it is their turn.
- Black on off-white, large enough for the back row of a room with twelve chairs.
Cons
- One idea per slide makes a long deck. April was 61 slides for three and a half hours, and Arvid Lund asked if I was sure.
- No layout for a table. On purpose, and I have regretted it once.
- It does not travel well as a hand-out. The two-page summary exists because of that.
๐ Alternatives
- No slides: a flip chart and a pen. Honest, and my handwriting is not.
- The work template, which has a footer, a logo and the wrong company.
