📖Suite bergamasque

Four piano pieces, begun around 1890 and not published until 1905: Prélude, Menuet, Clair de lune, Passepied. The third is the famous one and has been borrowed by so many films that it takes an effort to hear it as music.

Reading music. It goes on for 🔹 Read 20 pages when the flat is not quiet enough to read in, and it lasts about as long as twenty pages of anything except Kahneman.

Noted on 2025-04-19-Saturday in Averley. Mum had it on in the kitchen while we cleared up after the reading morning, I asked what it was, and she said, in the tone of a retired librarian, that I had known what it was since I was nine.

• The Passepied is the one I look forward to: quick, dry, walking pace.
• Clair de lune is better in its place, third of four, than on its own.
• It does not survive headphones on the tram. It needs a room.
