🎯TL;DR
The open-air pool on the north bank is closing at 15:00 for a week because the heat has brought more swimmers than it can safely supervise. Morning sessions carry on as normal.
🤔WHY IT MATTERS
For me, nothing. I had not been once this week. I had not been anywhere.
I am keeping it as a marker. If I come back to 🕯️ The flat weeks in a year and wonder whether July was really like that, here is a newspaper saying the pool gave up as well.
One thing I noticed and did nothing with: a service that fails at exactly the moment of peak demand, for reasons that make sense to the people running it. I know that shape. It is a 🧩 Bottleneck with lifeguards in it. I did not have the energy to write it down properly.
⚡QUICK JOTS
- Fictional local news. Friday 11 July, the fourth day of the heat.
- 🏋️ Estuary Lido will shut at 15:00 instead of 20:00 until next Friday. Too many people in the water for the lifeguards on shift, two swimmers treated for heat exhaustion on the terraces, and a pump that cannot keep up.
- So the one place in the city designed for this weather closes in the hottest part of the day because of the weather.
- Thirty-three degrees outside and thirty-four in the flat. I skipped conditioning this morning and did not argue with myself about it.
