“Habit is thus the enormous fly-wheel of society, its most precious conservative agent.”

From 📕 The Principles of Psychology, chapter IV - Habit. A fly-wheel stores motion so that the machine keeps turning between pushes. That is a fair description of a morning routine in a bad week.

James means society; I mean me. Notes on the chapter are in 📖 James on habit, and what I concluded is 💎 A habit needs a fixed cue more than it needs motivation.
