Feedback loop symbols
🛠️ Feedback loop symbols
💡 Use Case
Four marks, drawn once on Sunday 26 January so that I stop redrawing them: a curled arrow with R for a reinforcing loop, one with B for a balancing loop, a plus and a minus for the direction of an effect, and two short ticks across an arrow for a delay. They are the legend of 01. 🔁 Systems & Feedback and of every sketch that goes with 🧩 Feedback loops.
⚖️ Pros & Cons
Pros
- the delay ticks. Two small lines, and they are the part of every diagram that people ask about, which is the part worth asking about.
Cons
- R and B only help someone who has already been told what they stand for. For anyone else I draw a bathtub.
🔄 Alternatives
- A snowball for reinforcing and a pair of scales for balancing. Friendlier, and slower to draw on a tram.
