Bennett's little book began as newspaper articles
💡DETAILS
📕 How to Live on 24 Hours a Day was not written as a book. 🏛️ Arnold Bennett wrote it as a series of short articles for a London evening paper, the Evening News, and they were collected as a book in 1908.
It shows. The chapters are short, each makes one point, and each ends with a nudge to come back for the next.
Why I kept it: a hundred-odd pages that began as a column and are still in print. I write a fortnightly letter of about 900 words, so I find this encouraging and try not to draw conclusions from it.
